Elize Kotze represented South African netball as a player and coach. She was part of the 1995 formidable Protea world cup team who brought back the silver medal after 28 years of sport isolation. She was also vice-captain of the SPAR Protea team. As a player she is known as one of South Africa’s most fierce and tenacious defenders. Her instinct and ability to read the game earned her the best defence player award in 1994 during her last national Championship. She was called up six months prior to the world cup in Singapore 2011 as the coach, where the Proteas progressed to fifth position from the previous world cup. Elize coached the Proteas to their first victory against England and Jamaica in 10 years. The Proteas also won their first Africa cup in five years in Malawi against Malawi in extra time. Elize also received the prestigious G-sport award as coach of the year which is a huge honour for women in South Africa. Raloka Netball Ranch is the first and only netball specific training facility in the world, owned by a national netball player or coach. Thousands of netball players have visited this netball farm for training camps since 2000. Elize strongly believes sport is more than just a game, you coach netball and life. Elize is aiming to give every international netball player a Sportbot before the world cup next year in Cape Town.
