Devin Badenhorst

Devin Badenhorst, born in 2004 in Pretoria, is a dynamic and accomplished athlete with a passion for tennis. He embarked on his tennis journey at the tender age of four and quickly rose through the ranks. Devin’s dedication to the sport has been evident since his early years, and by the age of 7, he was already securing victories in the U10 boys category.

A graduate of Tuine Primary and a Cambridge Matriculant, Devin’s commitment to excellence extends beyond academics. His athletic prowess spans multiple disciplines, including athletics, rugby, and cricket, but it is in tennis that he found his true calling. Devin has consistently held the prestigious title of the number one tennis player in his age group in South Africa since 2011.

In March 2022, Devin achieved a significant milestone by becoming the Junior African Champion in both singles and doubles, representing South Africa on the international stage. His exceptional talent and competitive spirit have earned him the top spot in South Africa and an impressive world ITF junior ranking of 23.

Notably, 2023 marked Devin’s senior Davis Cup debut for South Africa in the Euro/African zone group 3, where he showcased his skills by winning all his matches. Recognizing his outstanding achievements, Devin earned a scholarship from the University of Baylor in the United States, commencing his academic and tennis journey in January.

Under the expert guidance of coaches John-Laffnie de Jager and Denton Meintjes at JL’s Tennis Academy, Devin has honed his skills and achieved remarkable success in various tournaments. His stellar performance in 2020, 2021, and 2022, including victories in prestigious events such as JB2 Pretoria, TSA Nationals, and the African Junior Championship, solidify his status as a rising star in the world of tennis.

As Devin Badenhorst transitions to the next phase of his career, his journey promises to be one marked by continued excellence and a relentless pursuit of his passion for tennis.
